Historic Churches of Wilkes County Christmas Excursion
December 14, 2019 – 10 AM – 5 PM
On December 14, 2019, the Foundation will host its first Christmas tour of historic churches, featuring six of the county’s church buildings: Smyrna Methodist, 1785; Washington Presbyterian, 1825; Mark’s Tabernacle, 1898; First United Methodist, 1907; Bethel Methodist, 1835; and Phillip’s Mill Baptist, 1785. Each church will provide a 15-minute “show,” which will include a talk about its history and some holiday entertainment. You are welcome to go to each church for its scheduled show, or you can ramble to each church and its graveyards at your own pace between 10 AM and 5 PM. Maps and a written history of each church will be provided.
Tickets are $50 each or $10 per church at the door. You can purchase tickets now online on our Facebook page, or drop by the Washington Historical Museum during business hours to purchase tickets.
On December 14, tickets will be sold at our Tour Headquarters (The Square Cafe, 22 W. Square, in Downtown Washington), beginning at 9 AM. Please feel free to call our Foundation President, Stephanie Macchia, at 706-678-5001 with questions or email her at historicalww@gmail.com.
